Green Building - An eco-friendly first world building system.
Witch Rooms® are using innovative composite
green building construction methods. Using
the new structural insulated panel system, not
only is the build so much quicker to construct
but is completely insulated - keeping electricity
costs down.
Solar heating panels and energy saving light
fittings are part of our specifications.

Making a building green:
- Solar heating provides the home with hot water year round
- Use of thermal Geyser blankets helps reduce the loss of heat, saving energy
- Large double glazed or high efficiency low-E insulated windows facing north reduce energy use
- Timber frame building system - utilizing only sustainable resourses
- Fully insulated wall panels conserve heat in winter and keep the space cool in summer
- Fibre cement walls are termite and water resistant and warranted to last 50 years and more
- Using low wattage fixtures such as CF or LED bulbs - uses less energy and emits less heat
than traditional bulbs
- Using timers and occupancy senses for rooms and devices will use less energy
Witch Rooms uses cost effective, eco friendly, sustainable and renewable materials as well as first world building technologies, in the construction of all Witch Rooms loft or roof rooms. Our products cause no damage to the environment and little inconvenience to the homeowner during building operations.
On average the Witch Rooms timber frame building method is 50% more time efficient than conventional brick and mortar, and far cleaner. There is no need for big heavy machinery and vehicles, saving on carbon emission and energy usage.
High energy use attributes to high carbon emissions which build up in the atmosphere and creates a layer blocking the sun’s heat from escaping the planet. This causes the planet to heat up, and is also known as Global Warming.
All products and materials sourced from nature have a carbon footprint which is measured by the amount of carbon released into the atmosphere during manufacturing, distribution etc.
Brick and Mortar have a High carbon footprint. In the manufacturing of these two products clay and limestone are extracted from the Earth and are never replaced within the natural resource again. The raw materials are then delivered to the manufacturing plant, baked and delivered to the supplier. From the supplier it’s delivered for use on site, where it will lay in situ for years to come, adding no benefit or return to the environment. In each step of the supply chain of any product, machinery and transport are used, each contributing to Co2 emissions and a higher carbon footprint.
Timber on the other hand is a light weight, renewable natural resource and acts as a carbon sink, similar to a sponge. It absorbs and holds carbon - in fact timber is made of carbon and has the lowest carbon cost of any building material. The absorbed carbon is converted into oxygen, creating a negative carbon effect as it gives back to nature. Timber holds and converts more Carbon in its lifetime than the combined Co2 and energy emissions during the project. The only time timber releases Carbon into the atmosphere, is when it decomposes or burns.
A timber frame home will hold approximately 0.8 tons of carbon per square meter. Combined with its life time carbon absorption and the neutralizing and cut back of transport and machinery emissions, a Witch Rooms timber frame structure will save and cut back up to 2Tons of carbon from the atmosphere, this compared to a conventional brick and mortar structure which will add anything up to 12tons of carbon into the atmosphere.
It is known that for every tree cut down in a well maintained certified forest two trees are planted, thus multiplying the availability of the resource and adding to the future benefit of the environment.
No wonder 90% of the developed world lives in timber frame homes - it’s clean, natural and safe to the environment.
